Three Specialized Cells That Help Vertabrates to Function
Red Blood Cells
Red blood cells play an important role in your health. They carry fresh oxygen throughout the body and it gives your blood that red look. There is Hemoglobin in the blood that transfer fresh oxygen throughout your body.

White Blood Cells
White blood protect the body from infectious agents. Also called leukocytes, white blood cells play an important role in the immune system by identifying, destroying and removing pathogens, damaged cells, cancerous cells, and foreign matter from the body. They are produced in your bone marrow and stored in your blood.

Nerve Cells (Neuron)
Nerve cells are basically neurons that are specialized to carry messages. They send them up to your brain. In vertebrate animals, neurons are the essential components of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. Neurons generate electrical signals called action potentials, which allow them to quickly transmit information over long distances.

Main Characteristics Of Chordates
Chordata- a phylum having in some stage that is developing a notochord.
Chordates are hollow with a dorsal nerve cord. It has a slit behind the mouth and a tail that extend pass the anus. Chordates also have a closed circulatory system, and most chordates have a heart. The blood of most chordates contains hemoglobin, the oxygen-carrying molecule. |
